Day Eight & Nine..

I just figured I'd combine days so not to be too detailed...I'm kinda annoying myself. And lately, I don't deserve any pats on the back. I didn't walk yesterday or today. I was really bad. I didn't have any kids this morning and could have done it with ease, but instead I was thinking of all the things I could do without the kids.

Tessa's asthma is flaring up so I'm not sure I'll be able to get outside tomorrow. Maybe I'll do "Walk Away the Pounds" video here at home b/c I can't get out tonight and probably not tomorrow either. I'll try. Thanks again for your encouragement.

I'll update in a couple of days.

Day Six: I walked, YESTERDAY

Well, I did end up walking yesterday w/ my mother-in-law. We walked 1.2 miles around her neighborhood. I didn't walk today, as we were EXTREMELY busy. I plan to take sat./sun. off and keep it up during the work week.

After we left, my mother-in-law manifested symptoms of the stomach flu, so I hope I won't be down and out next week. My sis and her kids have it, too...only time will tell.

Day Five: This is where it gets hard.

Ok folks, today I'm
completely un-motivated

to get out and walk! I normally go while Raven is in school. Tessa woke up with a tummy ache, so I easily said, "Well, that's that." Um...how 'bout she's doing fine now?

I could go out walking or I could keep playing monopoly (and winning by the way) on my computer. I could go walking or do my dishes that are piling up in my sink. Walking or go early vote? Walking or finish Raven's Halloween costume? Um, wait..I've got to finish that either way today...trunk or treat tomorrow.

Ok, I'll get out and do! (Thank you, Joy) I feel like I've inspired someone today...better live up to it! (thanks, I needed to hear that today!)

Day Four: Oh, Snot-cicles!

Well, walking was MUCH better today, I have new shoes! It was a toss-up between the Mizuno's and Saucony's, the price was the same...so I went with Saucony. I took your advice (Jan) and went to a running/shoe store and had a foot analysis done...THANK YOU!

He was able to determine why the balls of my feet and my heels ache. I learned more about myself (from a complete stranger) in under 5 minutes. VERY COOL.

So, today was a FREEZING 32 degrees. I'm such a baby...I don't KNOW what I'm going to do when it actually starts snowing regularly. Anyhow, we did a brisk 1.3 miles in 20 minutes flat. I'm pretty pleased with that. Google maps said it should take 24 minutes, so I'll take that little victory!

I would've liked to have walked more if I didn't fear that someone might call child protective services on me. So, there is little Tessa all bundled up w/ a blanket on top of her, in her "Ralphie, I can't put my arms down" coat. (a christmas story reference) For my kid that has a chronic runny nose, I should've brought some Kleenex! Oh well, she had snot-cicles on her face by the time we got back to the car. I'm determined to buy one of these babies (plastic cover for the stroller).

I hope this will at least help my poor, freezing child out. I guess if it gets too cold, I'll just go to the mall. It's really close, I just enjoy being outside and I'm not too fond of the thought of being pushed around the track by seniors that are doing their daily laps.

Oh well, maybe tomorrow will be warmer (yeah, right). I better enjoy this weather for as long as I can...it'll be a blizzard out there soon enough!

Day Three: Who are the people in my Neighborhood?

I walked 1.6 miles today in 36 minutes. Not too bad. It was a nice chilly 33 degrees outside. Poor Tessa, I bundled her up, but towards the end she was complaining. I was getting really tired, but just totally pushed myself to keep going. In plus, the best motivation to keep going is to know that I can't get home unless I do!

I decided to walk around my neighborhood. I knew Tessa had so much fun looking at all of the decorated houses yesterday, that we might look for new ones today. Not as many, she didn't enjoy today as much. I found in my leggings and oversize hoodie that I was super sweaty by the time I got home. Who'da thunk? Just by walking? I must be doing something right.

Now it's time to devour breakfast. Peaches anyone?

Day Two: Walk to the Library

Well, today went better than yesterday. After making dinner (soup and sandwiches, celery/peanut butter, and sliced peaches) not too bad...I bathed the kids, read a story and then was ready to crash. I played way too much with Candace and didn't schedule my time to walk. When I really felt I was motivated, there just simply wasn't time.

I appreciate the comments (Jennifer/John), they were great. I walked this morning and decided I was DEFINITELY
going to buy some good walking shoes. Any suggestions? I have liked New Balance, but if there is something that you love, let me know. I walked (w/ Tessa in stroller) to the Library. 1 1/2 miles, took us a bout 1/2 an hour...we had to stop and look at all the houses that were decorated for Halloween.

I still got a good work out and felt my blood going. I feel great. I get home and read the suggestions, which were exactly the things I was thinking were a "must" when I was walking. I had decided to walk everyday, not sure if that will be too much for me or not. I guess I'll see. Thank you for your encouragement.

Day One: Get Going!!!

Well, I started my day off bad, a couple granola bars (and not the healthy kind) and lunch (Panda Express) and I'm off to a great start! I guess I better go dust off my shoes, lace 'em up and get going! The kids love going around the circle (our neighborhood) and Tessa loves being pushed in the stroller. I can make it fun...right?
